Poll – Eurovision 2010s: The favourite Russian entry this decade is…

This was the decade where Russia for the first ever missed qualifying to the final, but also where they achieved six top 10 results including twice coming second and twice third. Which of these 9 Russian songs will fans rate as the best one?

After looking at all Eurovision results the past ten years, we calculated an average relative position for each country and used that to rank all 46 countries that had participated at the contest this decade. Russia came out as second best performing country this decade.

But which one is actually best? It might be quite hard to pick as Russia did well this decade. They didn’t win, but they ended in top 5, five times and furthermore achieved a a 7th place, two 11th places and finally they have fnished 16th  – and missed qualifying for the final once.

We asked writers from across Europe to pick their favourite one – and in the poll below, we will ask you to tell us your favourite Russian entry from the years 2010 to 2019.

2016: Sergey Lazarev – You Are The Only One

This was a tough one for me being stuck between two songs; a ballad and a pop song. I went for the pop song; Sergey’s 2016 entry is really good. It’s catchy, I can sing a long to it, and finally then the performance marks the top of a Eurovision staging for me. Russia took everything seen previously one step further, and they nailed it 110%.

2015: Polina Gagarina – A Million Voices

That voice, that woman, just wow. I also remember how she was booh’ed at and how the production team was questioned about their use of anti-boohing tecnique to stop the TV viewers from hearing just how the audience reacted to her. She stood through it – and I am full of admiration for that.

2015: Polina Gagarina – A Million Voices

You can always count on Russia to perform a good ballad and A Million Voices is, in my opinion, the best one that they have produced this decade. Polina is a complete pro, she is charming and she absolutely nailed the vocals. The song is all about togetherness and living in peace but unfortunately for Polina it was performed during a time when the Russian government were being condemned for their aggressive acts in Ukraine and I think that this went against her during the voting.

Looking back at the 2015 contest, Polina had the best song and performance of the night and should have won.

🇬🇧 William, Northern Ireland

2013: Dina Garipova – What If

This decade Russia haven’t been as strong for me personally as they were in the early 2000’s, yet this song although a little basic and cliché has a nice build and Dina’s voice is absolutely fantastic. It was a nice performance at Eurovision and a great advertisement for Ikea, if you get what I am saying.
