Half of the votes for the first semi-final have been cast. Despite some technical problems, tonight, juries across Europe and Australia were voting. Which 10 acts will secure themselves a place in the grand final on Saturday?
Aside from being the second dress rehearsal, tonight’s run through of the first semi-final of the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest also functioned as the jury final. Juries in all the first semi-final countries, plus Spain, United Kingdom and Italy were voting. Their votes determine half of the result.
Some technical problems occurred as Armenia was about to start. The music for Czech Republic started. It took about a minute to find the right song and get Artsvik started. At the end Greece was allowed to sing again. It turns out Demy had some problems with the in-ear sound.
But the juries weren’t the only ones voting. We were watching the show with several team members here in Kyiv, and asked them for their predictions. Some were watching in the arena, and others in the press centre.
Watching in the arena:
Josef from Czech Republic and Alvaro from Portugal
Watching in the press centre:
Giannis from Greece, Michael from United Kingdom, Lauren from USA, Dewayne from USA, Wouter from the Netherlands and Charlotte from Denmark.
