SVT reveals cities for Melodifestivalen 2011

Swedish broadcaster SVT has revealed which cities that will host Melodifestivalen 2011. Neither the cities or the format will be of any news to the dedicated viewers. One of the cities will celebrate its 10th anniversary as host next year, and all of the other cities has hosted the competition at least once before.

Amongst the Swedish fans there has been speculations about the cities over the last couple of weeks. A lot of people hoping that Melodifestivalen finally would be hosted by their home town. But this year SVT only chose cities that already hosted Melodifestivalen before. And the format with semi finals, a second chance heat and a grand final will be kept next year as well.

These are the cities and dates for Melodifestivalen 2011:

Semi final 1:  February 5th in Luleå 
(hosted  2003)

Semi final 2: February 12th in Gothenburg
(hosted 2003-2010)

Semi final 3: February 19th in Linköping  
(hosted 2005, 2008)

Semi final 4: 26 February 26th in Malmö  
(hosted 2004, 2009, 2010)

Second Chance:  March 5th in Sundsvall
(hosted 2002, 2003)

The final:  March 12th in Stockholm
(10 year anniversary)
