Romanians manage a whole show without a disqualification!

The first Romanian semi final went off without to much fuss tonight.  It was a long show, but they managed to get there in the end and chose six songs for the final.

The Romanians have really gotten a reputation around Europe for having the most scandal ridden national final.  Thankfully TVR managed to get through tonight’s broadcast without a disqualification or withdrawal.  Here are the results;

01. Nico and Vlad Mirita, Pe-o margine de lume 272pts
02. Simona Nae, The key of life 229pts
03. Catalin Josan, When we’re together
04. L Iorga and Pacifica, Prea mici sunt cuvintele
05. LaGaylia Frazier, Dr. Frankenstein
06. Tabasco, Love is all I need

The results were a mix of 50% televote and 50% jury. The other six songs that didn’t make the final are now out of the competition.  A finalist of note to Eurovision fans was LaGaylia Frazier, who has previously competed in Melodifestivalen.  The next semi will take place on the 16th of February and the final will follow on Super Saturday (Saturday 23rd February, when no less than 7 countries choose their songs for Belgrade).

In my view

Not that much great stuff in Romania tonight, is always a pity when a foreigner has the best song in a national selection, and that’s what it seemed like tonight.  It’s a damning judgement, but that’s the way it was.  Hopefully the next Romaian final will throw up some better songs.
