Roger Cicero sings the official Euro 2012 song for the German national football team

Tonight the German national football team will play their first match at the 2012 European Football Championships against Portugal. Over the years it has become a tradition that a special song was chosen to support the German football team. This time the song is sung by Roger Cicero who represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 in Helsinki.

Roger Cicero‘s song Für nichts auf dieser Welt (For nothing in this world) was chosen by the German football association DFB as the official fan song of the Euro 2012. The song can be found on Roger’s latest album In diesem Moment (In this moment).

The German team manager Oliver Bierhoff explains that the lyrics of the songs fit perfectly to this event. He adds that
Cicero’s music has a lot of in common with the team’s way to play football: creativity, joy and lots of energy. Rogero Cicero states that he is very proud to support the German team with his song so that they can achieve the first victory at the European Championships since 1996.

Roger Cicero is not the first former Eurovision artist who got the honour to support the German football team with a song. In 1990 the official German song for the World Championships Wir sind schon auf dem Brenner (We are already on the Brenner Pass) was sung by Udo Jürgens. For this song he was even accompanied by the German football team who became World Champion that year.
