Despite what you may think, Loreen’s career didn’t start in Melodifestivlen. Loreen was first known to the Swedish viewers when she participated in Swedish Idol in 2004 where she finished fourth. Since then Loreen has been working as a presenter at a Swedish tv station and as a producer and director for several Swedish reality TV shows.

Loreen
participated in Melodifestivalen for the first time in 2011 with the song My Heart is Refusing Me. On that occasion her journey in Melodifestivalen ended in the second chance round when she lost the head to head battle with Sara Varga and her song Spring för livet.
Although the song became a huge hit in Sweden climbing the Swedish charts for many weeks.

In 2012 Loreen participated in Melodifestivalen again with the song Euphoria. Already after her first performance in the first semi final of Melodifestivalen 2012 Swedish viewers stated that Loreen should be the one to represent Sweden in Eurovision Song Contest in Baku. And as it turned out, in the final of Melodifestivalen Loreen received the highest amount of votes both from the juries and the viewers which made her the Swedish representative in Eurovision Song Contest in Baku.
