Hera Björk has that Je Ne Sais Quoi

The second day of rehearsals was rounded off by Iceland’s Hera Björk.  Would she have that special something?

Hera Björk, as you may know, tried to represent Denmark in Moscow last year.  This year was she back, and is singing for her native country.  Je ne sais quoi is a strong way to end the first semi-final, and the signs are looking promising.

Hera Björk wears the brick-red dress that appears in her video and is also the same outfit she wore in the Icelandic national final.  She is joined on stage by five backing vocalists – three girls and two guys.  During the course of the song, the two girls on her right move to the left, before all of them joining Hera towards the end of the song.  The girls are in brick-red dresses, somewhat shorter than Hera’s floor length costume.  The two men are in dark suits with brick-red ties.  The dance routine has an element of Charlotte Perrelli’s Hero, combined with the Scandi-pop traits of Euroband‘s This is my life.

The back drop flashes variously red, blue and yellow, sometimes in the manner of the UK TV show The X Factor.  All in all, it’s quite effective. Hera was obviously holding back a little, but a place in the final seems more than likely.
