Glennis Grace on first theatre tour

Dutch songstress Glennis Grace was deeply affected by the tragic premature death of celebrated artist Whitney Houston in 2012. Ms Houston was Glennis’ idol and what better way to honour her memory than perform some of her hits on her first theatre tour which got underway yesterday.

Prior to representing the Netherlands at the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest with My Impossible Dream, Glennis Grace‘s adventure began when she won the Soundmixshow back in 1994 aged just sixteen performing one of the biggest hits of her idol, One Moment in Time. Since participation at Eurovision, Glennis has scored a number of hits in the Netherlands, most notably Afscheid and Wil Je Nog Niet Een Nacht both in 2011. A best of compilation album followed that same year which also paid tribute to the talents of Whitney Houston with the title One moment in time – Het beste van Glennis Grace 1995-2010.

Glennis has made quite a name for herself as a spectacular live performer and so fans were buzzing recently with the news of her Glennis Grace – Live in Concert nationwide tour, which kicked off yesterday in Almere following a period of intense rehearsals. The tour is the first that Glennis has done, so she is naturally very excited at the prospect of meeting her fans around the country. The event has already been held at the Ziggo Dome and was such a sell out success that extra dates were added, on the 14th and 15th of Feburary. The artist tells fans on her website that "During the show, I’ll take you all on a musical journey through my life. I’ll be performing songs that have come to mean a great deal to me. I will of course also be singing my hits such as Wil Je Niet Nog Een Nacht, Als Je Slaapt and Afscheid. I’m so looking forward to it, this is so exciting! From the moment I heard Whitney, she made such an impact, I wanted to be like her. I want to share that feeling with you all on my tour."

Ticket prices start from EUR 20 upwards and can either be purchased at the theatres directly, or through the Nationale Theaterkassa website.
