Eurovision 2014: Allocation draw on Monday the 20th

On Monday, the 20th of January the allocation draw for Eurovision 2014 will take place. A live broadcast will happen directly from Copenhagen’s town hall. Six pots for the two semi-finals have been announced.

The traditional allocation draw will take place from Copenhagen’s town hall Monday the 20th of January. Here it will be decided which countries will participate in which semi-final.

As usual an amount of pots have been made up based on voting patterns in the past. The six pots for Eurovision 2014 are: 

Pot 1: Albania, Montenegro, FYR Macedonia, Switzerland and maybe Slovenia

Pot 2: Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia and Lithuania

Pot 3: Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Russia and Ukraine

Pot 4: Armenia, Belgium, Greece, Ireland and the Netherlands

Pot 5: Austria, Hungary, Poland, San Marino

Pot 6: Malta, Moldova, Portugal, Romania

Slovenia in pot 1 has until the 17th of January to decide if they will be taking part in the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest or not. It has previously been decided that Sweden will take part in semi-final 1, Norway and Israel in semi-final 2. As usual the big5, United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, France and Italy, plus the host country Denmark is automatically qualified for the final and as such won’t be taking part in the semi-finals.

At the draw it will not only be decided in which semi-final the countries will compete, but also in which half of the semi-final they will find their starting position.

The draw will be broadcast live on dr.dk and on eurovision.tv. You can follow in on Monday the 20th at 14:00 CET.
