In the first of four qualifying heats four ballads were up against each other. Edgar Smári and Jóhanna Guðrún Jónsdóttir won and are directly qualified for the final that will be held on February 14th.
It might have been hard for the viewers to decide upon their favourites in this first qualifying heats where all four songs were nice ballads with a potential to reach the final. At the end Edgar Smári and Jóhanna Guðrún Jónsdóttir ended up haven proven that they just had a little bit more to offer than Heiða Ólafs and Ólöf Jara Skagfjörð.

The next Icelandic heat will take place in a week where yet another two will win a spot in the final.
