Charlotte’s revenge is a dish best eaten cold

Charlotte Perrelli, winner of the 1999 Eurovision Song Contest and Swedish entrant in 2008 recently gave an extremely candid interview with Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet where she amongst other things discussed the hard times she endured while representing Sweden with Hero in Belgrade.

Problems with her marriage and an unfaithful husband culminated in the star having to be admitted to hospital on no fewer than three occasions. It was while she was preparing for the event in Belgrade that Ms. Perrelli discovered the shocking truth, that the man she had been married to for 10 years had cheated on her.

"When he came to Belgrade to visit me, he wasn’t aware that I knew about the affair. I met him when he came and immediately gave him a return ticket back to Sweden. What’s more, I’d already arranged for the locks to be changed back home, so he had no use for his key", Charlotte told tabloid readers. A bitter divorce followed that would gradually take its toll on the star’s health: "My body just collapsed. I got meningitis, my stomach swelled up making me look almost pregnant and I suffered horrible bowel problems. I lay at home for three weeks without being able to get up."

Fortunately, all’s well that ends well as Perrelli also divulged during the interview that her and her ex husband Nicola have managed to become friends again after the tough period in her life.
