Carola to Perform at the Grand Opening Party in Moscow

Swedish superstar, Carola, is going to perform at the grand opening party of the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 on Sunday evening. This is her first public appearance this year.

Carola has a lot of experience when it comes to Melodifestivalen and the Eurovision Song Contest. Since her debut in 1983, she has been involved both as an artist, host and interval act in Melodifestivalen no less then eight times (she even presented the result of the televotes one year). In the Eurovision Song Contest, she has been involved three times as an artist and once as an opening act.

Russian television has invited Carola to perform at the grand opening party of Eurovision Song Contest 2009 on Sunday evening. On her website, Carola says ”If you get an invitation to the European musical answer to the Olympic Games you just can’t say no. I’m honoured and it will be exciting to meet the audience again, and the enthusiastic eastern European countries. Especially since I’ve been involved in the Eurovision Song Contest for over three decades. The contest will always have a special place in my heart.”

A number of previous winners are going to perform at tomorrow’s opening party that will be broadcast on Russia’s Channel One. Rumours that are not yet confirmed say that Carola will sing both Fångad av en stormvind and Evighet.
