Anna Vissi’s Mykonos party is a big success that leaves Conchita ‘in love’

Three-time Eurovision entrant Anna Vissi celebrated her 40th anniversary in the Greek music industry with a party concert on the island of Mykonos. The event proved a Eurovision fan’s delight, featuring, among other Eurovision artists, an eagerly anticipated Conchita Wurst – the current Eurovision winner – who joined pop icon Anna on stage!

The much hyped event was called 40 Years Vissi Fever and took place at Mykonos’ JackieO’ Beach Club. A Eurovision icon herself, Anna seemed to be nodding to her ESC fans and acknowledging her interest in the contest by her choice of performers and guests for this special party. The night opened with this year’s Greek entrants Freaky Fortune and Demy, a young pop artist who has long been eyed as a possible Eurovision entrant by Greek fans. Kalomira, who represented Greece at Eurovision in 2008, was also among a prestigious set of guests that included famous fashion designer Valentino.

By far, the most anticipated guest artist of the night was current Eurovision winner, Conchita Wurst. Wearing a simple white gown, the Austrian artist looked moved when she joined Anna on stage, saying: ‘You are living in Paradise. And what a beautiful night that is (sic) (…) with the Goddess!’ Vissi on the other hand, introduced her guest by saying that she immediately singled out Conchita’s voice and song from this year’s Eurovision and that she felt honoured by her presence. The two artists sang together and their joint rendition of Vissi’s 2008 Greek entry Everything was met with applause.

Despite controversy over ticket prices and rumours about Conchita’s alleged fee demands, the party proved to be very successful and is already deemed as ‘the big summer event of 2014′ on Mykonos. Conchita appeared to have been genuinely enchanted by her Anna Vissi experience on the Greek island, too; a few days after the event, the Austrian star posted a facebook message that read: ‘Back home but my heart is crying. I fell in love with you Anna Vissi and Mykonos.’
