Alexander Rybak and Ovi straight to the final in Norway

Tonight Norway held their third preliminary heat, this time in Grenland. Bookmaker favourite to win the final went as planned straight to the final held in two weeks. Ovi will follow him together with the four already selected. Next week the lucky losers will compete in order to also reach the final in Oslo on the 24th of February.

Grenland, not to be confused with the Danish Island Greenland, hosted the last of the ordinary heats in Norway. All 24 songs have now had their chance to convince the Norwegian population that they should still be in the running to represent the country at the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow.

This evening the following seven competed:

Sichelle – Left Right
The Rebelettes – Soul Train
Ovi – Seven Second
Jane Helen – Shuffled
Foxy – Do It Again
Sunny – Carrie
Alexander Rybak – Fairytale

Ovi and bookmaker favourite Alexander Rybak won the two direct spots to the Norwegian final held in Oslo Spektrum on the 21st of February. Jane Helen and Sunny became the lucky losers that will get another chance in the so-called second chance round next Saturday.

It is however not completely over for the remaining three acts as an extra twist has been added to this year’s Norwegian selection. Via the three preliminary heats six songs gets a chance in the second chance round, but out of the nine that didn’t reach anything two more will be awarded with a second chance spot. The first of them will be the one with who received most votes in their ordinary heat while the second will be decided via Norwegian newspaper VG.
