Denmark won the 2000 Eurovision Song Contest by the Olsen Brothers and their Fly on the wings of love. This was Denmark's second victory with the first one being back to 1963.
James Fox represented the United Kingdom in 2004 with this Hold onto our love. Unfortunately he only scored 29 points which placed the country as 16th out of 24 participants.
Here is the Norwegian entry for the 1980 Eurovision Song Contest. It ended 16th with 15 points. The song Sámiid Ædnan is sung in Sami which is quite different from regular Norwegian. The song is now being used by English football fans.
Iceland particiated in the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time in 1986 with the song Gleðibankinn. One of the team members of Icy is Eirikur Hauksson who also represented Norway in 1991 and Iceland again in 2007.
It was a coincidence, but couldn’t have been planned better as the Dutch docu-soap with Gerard Joling and Gordon as the main characters started just as I arrived to the Netherlands. I must admit that I don’t know whether I should laugh or cry.

Finally, it seems the BBC is serious about the Eurovision Song Contest. They have always professed to be serious about it and I have been happy to believe them. I’ve never been able to comprehend why they would deliberately want to be embarrassed every year.
