Cliff Richard is one of the best selling artists in Europe, he has had a big career all over the world and was knighted by the Queen in 1995, but never managed to win the Eurovision Song Contest, despite his two entries being among the most loved and played songs from the Contest.

Spanish TV claims that it wasn’t actually true when the country won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1968. Apparently General Franco stole the victory from the United Kingdom’s Cliff Richard who was beaten with just one point.

Cliff Richard represented the United Kingdom in both 1968 and 1973. This, his first participation, came second - 5 years later he ended third.
