Many fans of the Eurovision Song Contest would love to see the return of Italy. They haven’t participated in the contest since 1997 but there may be a glimmer of hope about their return.
Paolo Meneguzzi will be representing Switzerland with the song Era Stupendo in Belgrade. He has been chosen internal and didn't have to go through any national final. It is the first time since 2000 that Switzerland participates with a song in Italian.
It was a coincidence, but couldn’t have been planned better as the Dutch docu-soap with Gerard Joling and Gordon as the main characters started just as I arrived to the Netherlands. I must admit that I don’t know whether I should laugh or cry.

Finally, it seems the BBC is serious about the Eurovision Song Contest. They have always professed to be serious about it and I have been happy to believe them. I’ve never been able to comprehend why they would deliberately want to be embarrassed every year.
