ABBA Gold and Mamma Mia soundtrack

After the premiere of the film version of the musical Mamma Mia ABBA is back on the charts. Not only is the soundtrack a best seller, but also ABBA’s greatest hits album, Gold, that includes the original ABBA songs is once again selling well around Europe.

After the big success with The Irish Connection Johnny Logan is now preparing a new album. The release date and the name are not yet mentioned, but the album is being recorded in Denmark, Germany, Ireland and the USA.

NRK to close Norwegian selection for foreigners

After a successful fifth place in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest NRK will now close the national selection for foreign songwriters. This will in particular affect the many Swedes who have seen the Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix as an easier way to get through to the Eurovision Song Contest.

Having participated three times in the Eurovision Song Contest doesn’t stop Eirikur’s career as a rock singer. All through the summer he will as such be performing in Sweden, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, Hungary and of course Norway where he lives.

2008 Melodifestival participants are still well represented on the Swedish single top 60 where several names from the Eurovision Song Contest now have entered as well. Kate Ryan, who represented Belgium in 2006, is this week ranked higher than any of them though all are beaten by football songs!

Eurovision Song Contest artists hit the Danish charts

This week seven of the participants from the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest are to be found on the Danish charts. The winner, Dima Bilan, is nowhere to be found on the Top-40 while Sebastien Tellier and Kalomira joins the Nordic participants in a success in Denmark.

The Eurovision Song Contest final became the most seen program in the Scandinavian viewing figures despite a drop in the amount of viewers in both Denmark and Sweden. In Norway however three times as many watched the contest compared to last year where the country was not in the final.

The fifth day of rehearsals saw most of the countries participating in the first semi-final rehearse for the second time. The day started in the Balkans with Montenegro and ended, well, in the Balkans with Bosnia.
