Greece has chosen Maria-Elena Kyriakou as its participant for the upcoming 60th Eurovision Song Contest. The artist outperformed four other entrants with her song One Last Breath and went on to win the Greek national final, Eurosong 2015. The Cypriot-born artist thus gets the ticket to represent the country in Vienna this May.

The Greek final will take place on the 4th of March in "Enastron" music hall. The Greeks will decide between five young artists about who will be the one to represent them in Vienna. Three females, one male singer and one band are in the running to be the next represantative of Greece who wants to return to top 10 after last year's failure.
At a special press conference in Athens today the five candidate songs for the Greek national final was released together with details about the national final which will be held on Wednesday the 4th of March. Venue and hosts of the show had been presented as well.

This year the Eurovision Song Contest can celebrate its 60th anniversary. This diamond jubilee will be made in form of a concert taking place in London this spring. It is not a live event, but will be broadcast in 21 countries over Easter and later. Tickets will be sold from this Friday.
A total of 39 countries will take place at the 60th Eurovision Song Contest in May in Vienna. The return of Cyprus, Serbia and Czech Republic brought the number of entries up, compared to last year where only 37 countries took part.
The decision of the goverment to speed up the presidential election in the parliament brings general elections in February and maybe a second round in March. That means that NERIT must go through with the national final before the end of January as the next months will be busy with the political agenda in the country.
The 73rd General Assembly of the European Broadcasting Union has accepted new Greek state broadcaster NERIT into its ranks as an active member. This means that Greece will now participate in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest, bringing the number of countries so far confirmed for Vienna to 39.
