After limited Swedish success in the Eurovision Song Contest the past three years Sweden is now looking forward towards 2010. Broadcaster SVT has just opened for submission of songs that can take part in the national selection and represent the country in Oslo.
Nordman and Sibel won the Swedish second chance round, but all spotlights are targeting Carola Häggkvist. How did she go from being queen of Melodifestival to being near humiliated and having a glorious career thrown in pieces?
If NordicBets odds are to be trusted Carola Häggkvist and Andreas Johnson will qualify for the final in Globen via the Second chance round. Ola and Sibel will be fighting for the second spot, but Charlotte Perrelli or Sanna Nielsen will win the final.
The third Swedish final offered 8 different songs by a good mix of experienced well-known names and young talents with a lot of energy. And that was indeed what the Swedish population went for when they picked BWO and Frida feat. Headline for the final.
Måns came third in the Swedish final, Melodifestival, in 2007 with this song Cara Mia. He didn't go to Eurovision - but managed to get a big hit on the charts in his home country.
Carola's song from the Swedish final in 1990 - one year before she was to win the Eurovision Song Contest. This song, Mitt i ett äventyr, came second in Sweden. This clip is from 1991.
8 songs took part in the second Swedish heat that took place in Västerås. The biggest expectations laid on the shoulders of Andreas Johnson and Carola Häggkvist, but they disappointed a bit and only reached the second chance contest.
