Azerbaijan continues non-stop its national selection, Milli Seçim Turu, with the semi-final shows. Orhan Kerimli, Meryem Kerimova, Hayyam Mustafazadeh, Feqan Seferov, Elton İbrahimov, Adil Bakışlı, Sabina Babayeva and Arzu İsmailova will perform to qualify to the final where only five names will be proceed.

Tonight, we came to the end of the long process of Azerbaijan's national final, Milli Seçim Turu 2012. Another group of nine participants fought for the last ticket to semi-finals where Arzu İsmailova got the winning award.

Selections in the host country continue with its seventh heat this week where another group of nine participants fought the battle of the semi-final where Sabina Babayeva took the ticket. There will be a break in the selections next week when the day of mourning will be commemorated in Azerbaijan claiming genocide of Armenians in Xodjali.

The Azeri host broadcaster İçtimai Tv will start looking for its 2012 Eurovision Song Contest participant in a couple of days. The window to submit an entry will only be open for ten days. The winner of their national selection will, as usual with a host country, be guaranteed a place in the final in May.

Two weeks after winning the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest people are still discussing whether or not Azerbaijan only won as a result of Turkey not making it to the final. And why did the winning couple run on stage waving the Turkish flag instead of the Azerbaijani one?

On Saturday night, Azerbaijan won the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time in their 4th competition, with Eldar and Nigar, known as Ell & Nikki, and their song, Running Scared. As the country won the competition, the media in Azerbaijan reacted very positively.
