Alexander Rybak can apparently do no wrong in Russia. Having shot to stardom following last year's victory, the young violinist has gone on to make quite a name for himself in many of the former Soviet republics, including naturally Belarus, his country of birth.

At the welcome reception last night, last year's Eurovision Song Contest winner Alexander Rybak showed that he has more to offer than Fairytale. This song called Europe Skies is from his second album.

As last year's winner it was no surprise that we would get to hear Alexander Rybak singing his fairytale in relation to the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest. At the welcome reception last night at the cityhall he performed it - how it went can be seen in this video.

On 11th January, Bosnia and Herzegovina and national broadcaster BHRT, decided to go with Vukašin Brajić for the Eurovision Song Contest this year. They chose the young pop-rock musician, who took 2nd prize in the popular TV show, Fame Academy.

Tonight, Russian broadcaster for the Eurovision Song Contest, RTR, hosted the show that would decide who would represent Russia in Oslo. Peter Nalitch won the ticket with the song Lost And Forgotten.

After many weeks of speculation and rumour, the BBC has now confirmed one of the most badly kept secrets of the 2010 finals season. The United Kingdom will choose it’s singer on Friday March 12th.

Not much information about the selection procedure BBC will choose this year is available. We know that Pete Waterman will write the British entry, but more than that is just pure speculations. Now it appears like a date might be known though as Alexander Rybak has mentioned it in his calendar.
