After many weeks of speculation and rumour, the BBC has now confirmed one of the most badly kept secrets of the 2010 finals season. The United Kingdom will choose it’s singer on Friday March 12th.

This year, the BBC showed Europe that actually, they and the United Kingdom do take the Eurovision Song Contest seriously. They persuaded Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, possibly the biggest name in musical theatre, to write the song and head a talent search for the winner.

The British press and people are traditionally cynical about the Eurovision Song Contest. Lets see if the involvement of Andrew Lloyd Webber and the United Kingdom finishing 6th have changed anything.

Last night, Ukraine chose its representative for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. Fifteen songs fought it out and at the end of the night Be My Valentine by Svitlana Loboda was declared the winner.
