Last night's Eurovision related event was in the Belarussian Eurofest. Five lucky songs from fifteen songs have qualified for the Eurofest final, which will be held in early January.

Newspapers in Armenia have speculated that famous hard-rock group SOAD (System of a Down) will be representing Armenia in the next Eurovision Song Contest, which will be held in Moscow, Russia in 2009.

The Turkish participiant of 2009 Eurovision Song Contest, Hadise, has offically signed with TRT today. Before the offical ceremony Hadise and TRT's boss İbrahim Şahin already announced their plans for the Eurovision Song Contest which will be held in Moscow in 2009.

ORF Confirms Austria Out of Moscow 2009

The Austrian broadcaster, ORF, has confirmed that Austria will not be taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow next year. After competing in the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev, Austria continues to not take part in the contest, with the exception of 2007.

TRT: Who Should Go To Eurovision Song Contest 2009?

The European Broadcasting Union's Turkish member TRT (Turkish Radio and Television Corparation) has opened a poll, the type of which has never been tried by any EBU member before. Turkey's participiant for Eurovision Song Contest 2009 will be chosen through the poll result.

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has reacted to Georgian and Estonian politicians that they shouldn't get involved with whether or not a country is to participate next year. This is not a place for politics, Svante Stockselius says.
