Today, Romania will choose 24 songs from 168 received for their national selection. The jury will meet today to select the 24 semi finalists that will compete for the honour to represent Romania at the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. Nico is expected to be among the participants.

Iceland starts its national selection on Saturday. The four songs that will compete in the first out of four qualifying heats are available to listen to online. Two of them will qualify for the final to be held the 14th of February.

Out of 142 submitted songs MRKTV has now announced which 32 songs will compete for the honour of representing the country
at the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. A draw will divide the 32 acts into two semi-finals, from where half will make it to the final.

She has participated five times in the Danish selection, the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix. Won it once where she afterwards came third in the Eurovision Song Contest. She has twice before been hosting the national final and now she is back as host together with radio host Felix Smith.

When Norway kicks off its 2009 national selection in three weeks it includes a possible comeback to the Eurovision Song Contest stage after 41 years. 21 songs are ready to compete in three semi-finals for a place in the final that takes place on 21st of February.

DR, Danish broadcaster has announced that they will publish the list of participants for the 2009 Dansk Melodi Grand Prix on the 9th of January. The national selection will take place three weeks later with 10 acts. 684 songs were submitted for six spots and four have been specially invited.

The deadline to submit songs for the 2009 Romanian national final has expired. Now a jury should select 24 acts that will compete to represent the country in Moscow. There is just one problem though as how do one choose 24 songs if only 5 was received?

When Andorra in January pick their participant for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest they have three well-known names to choose from. Internationally the most famous name is Susanna Georgi, one half of the Danish pop duo Me & My.

The Dutch docu-soap called the break-up of De Toppers continues. Gerard Joling has apparently left the country and Jeroen van der Boom has just been announced as a new member of the popular trio.
