The composer, producer and performer Juan Carlos Calderón died yesterday in Madrid after suffering a heart failure at the age of 74. He was the author of four of the Spanish entries at the Eurovision Song Contest in the 70s and 80s; Eres Tú, Tú Volverás, La Fiesta Terminó and Nacida Para Amar.
Not to be outshone by their easterly neighbours, broadcaster NRK have adopted the format used by SVT otherwise known as Inför Eurovision Song Contest, adapting it for Norwegian TV screens under the name Adresse Baku.
Spanish TV claims that it wasn’t actually true when the country won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1968. Apparently General Franco stole the victory from the United Kingdom’s Cliff Richard who was beaten with just one point.
