Eurovision winners feature in new RTE series

A new RTE series, based on the BBC model, will see, not one, but two Eurovision winners tracing their family tree.  Dana Rosmary Scallon (1970) and Linda Martin (1992) will try to fill the gaps in their heritage over hour long episodes.

The universal Spanish voice, Julio Iglesias, participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1970. Although he didn't win the contest, he is well known as "the Universal voice" in all over the world.

Dana set in motion a chain of wins that would secure Ireland's place in the Eurovision record books.  Her career has been a long and varied one but successful every step of the way.

Dana won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1970 giving Ireland its first out of so far seven victories with the song All kinds of everything.

Dana, who gave Ireland its first victory, out of 7 so far, in the Eurovision Song Contest, will be performing for Pope Benedict XVI at a press-Mass concert in New York later this month. In 1993 she performed for the previous Pope.
