Festival da Canção

Tonight, the final of Festival da Canção, the Portuguese national selection was held. The winner will become the their 44th representative  for the Eurovision song contest in Oslo on May.

Tonight the first semi-final of Festival da Cançã, the Portugese national selection was held. A total of 12 participants competed for six spots in the final on Saturday. Thursday yet another six participants will pass making a line-up of 12 in total with a chance to represent Portugal at the Eurovision Song Contest.

Portuguese broadcaster RTP has announced that the Portuguese national final, Festival da Cançao, will be held on March 6th. It was also announced that this year there will be two semi finals.

Last night, the grand final of the Portuguese national selection, the Festival da Canção, was on-air in Portugal. The show was broadcast by RTP and RTPi. Twelve songs participated for the right to go to Moscow. At the end of the night, Flor de Lis had the strongest song in the eyes of the juries and the televoters, Todas As Ruas Do Amor

Tonight offers shows in five countries, four of them being national finals where a song for Moscow will be picked. Included in this is a marathon show from Spain with semi-final, second chance contest and a national final all in one. In Sweden it is time for the fourth semi-final.

The 24 songs that are competing for a spot in Festival Da Canção 09 has been made public. All songs can be heard online and votes are accepted until 30th of January. The twelve songs that receive the highest amounts of votes will compete in the Portuguese final the 27th of February.

This evening, the Portuguese held their ‘Festival da Canção', the traditional show for choosing their Eurovision entry, in the Teatro Camões in Lisbon. Ten songs were on show for the public to choose (yes, you guessed it) by televote.
