Tickets for the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest will be sold from 8th of February

This morning it was revealed that tickets for the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest will go on sale on the 8th of February. As usual tickets can be purchased in various categories and they will be available for each of the three live shows and for the second and third dress rehearsal of the final.

EBU fine to Azerbaijan and Spain - disagreement about the amount

Two of the major cases in relation to the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest saw its ending today when it was published that both Spain and Azerbaijan will receive a fine for their breaking of the rules. EBU wants to send a strong signal to broadcasters not to do that and denies that one of the fines is just 2700 Euros.

TRT Asks Public to Decide Turkish Representative Again

While speculation is increasing about the successor to Hadise, TRT, who is in charge of the Eurovision Song Contest broadcast in Turkey, has asked the public to share their opinions about 2010, just as they did last year.

Following complaints that some people in Azerbaijan who voted for Armenia were visited by the Police, the Reference Group of the European Broadcasting Union convened to discuss the matter. Today they released the following statement announcing their decision:

Belgium Ask Hadise for 2010

Last year's Turkish representative, Belgian born Hadise, has been named by the Belgian media for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010. Hadise came 4th with her song Düm Tek Tek at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009.

TRT Planning to Set New Prices for Adverts During the Eurovision Song Contest

Turkish EBU member, TRT, has announced that it is planning to set a new price table for the adverts which are broadcast during the Eurovision Song Contest due to high viewing figures during the show in the 2000's. With the new prices, it's expected that TRT's income will increase by an extra €62 million.

What about changing the formula for the oldest running TV show currently showing??

The concept of a song written only for the Eurovision Song Contest is more than 50 years old, and it could do with a facelift.

Neighbour points doesn’t exist between Azerbaijan and Armenia – the political fight between the two countries have resulted in Azerbaijani police questioning people who voted for Armenia in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest.  They are being classified as a potential security threat.

Junior Eurovision Song Contest to be Hosted by Belarus in 2010

The venue for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2010 has been announced by the European Broadcasting Union, even though the 2009 show hasn't been held yet. The 8th Junior Eurovision Song Contest show will be held in Minsk, the capital city of Belarus.

No overlap with Champions League, thank you!

Until EBU makes up their mind and move the dates for the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest fans are discussing if it really is impossible to have the two things on the same evening. The answer is a clear yes!
