2013: Despina Olympiou - Αν με θυμάσαι / An Me Thimasai

The 37 year old Despina Olympiou hails from Limassol, Cyprus, where she was born on the 17th of October, 1975. She took her first tentative steps towards a career in the music industry by relocating to London, where she studied music theory and piano at Trinity College.

She made her music debut over twenty years ago, back in 1992. The following year saw her relocate once more to Athens, Greece in order to further her career. The move opened many a door for her, and she worked with many well respected names from the Greek music scene, including former Cypriot entrant from 1998, Michalis Hatzgiannis. During the course of her career, Despina has achieved considerable popularity in her native Cyprus as well as motherland Greece, with the release of six albums: her debut Ton Mation sou i Kalimera which appeared in 2000, Vale Mousiki (2003), Exoume Logo (2004), Auto ine Agapi (2005), Pes to Dinata (2007) and Mia Stigmi in 2009. Mia Stigmi went on to achieve a gold disc for sales in Cyprus.

She has also released six singles to date, with the noteable Paradisos in 2007, a duet with Hatzgiannis, which earned them both a MAD TV music award for Best Duet. The single which was followed by Omorfa Psemata in 2008. 2012 saw her part ways from the succesful collaboration between herself and Hatzgiannis, and she worked alongside another familiar Eurovision name, Stereo Mike (remember the Greek 2011 entry, Watch My Dance?).The result was Den s’ afino apo ta matia mou, which brought her great success in both Greece and Cyprus. Her newest single An Me Thimase is the first in five years from the artist.

Since her breakthrough, Despina has toured all over the United States, Australia and Europe.
