  • About the selection

The Austrian selection for 2011, Düsseldorf, Wir Kommen! was very well organised and completely professional. Unlike previous years, Austria (along with Switzerland), seem to be taking their decision for the participant of their Eurovision Song Contest entrant seriously for the first time in many years. The show took place on Friday 25th February 2011.

The favourites of the night were Trackshitazz/Lukas Plöchl with their song Oida Taunz, a lively dance song featuring a lot of energy. However, Nadine managed to overcome the duo with an amazingly strong performance winning over the hearts of Austria with her song The Secret Is Love.

The show consisted of 10 participants performing their entries with Nadine appearing 9th. During Nadine’s performance she sounded similar to Kate Winslet with her song What If and had a similar tone to Christina Aguilera.

The voting for Düsseldorf, Wir Kommen! was 100% tele-vote with ORF relying on the audience of Austria’s decision completely. The top three participants entered a super-final (Trackshittaz/Lukas Plöchl, Klimmstein feat. Joe Summer and Nadine Beiler) with another tele-vote choosing the Austrian representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 as Nadine Beiler.

  • About the song

The Secret Is Love is a slow ballad sung powerfully and with ease for Nadine. Her tone is vey similar to that of Christina Aguileras with the majority of the song sung unaccompanied with Nadine alone. The song is a great melody to show off Nadine’s vocals with the lyrics suggesting she has found what love really is and would like to explore it with her other half.

  • Lyrics

When I close my eyes, I fall into a dream
Can't you see this world, all people live in peace
The sun is shining in my heart, rainbows in the sky
Spread your wings and fly, fly, fly high

We all are dreamers on our way
In a world where we're not meant to stay
Together we can make it all
The secret is in you, it's love

When I smile inside my heart, I feel so free
All the fears and doubts, they turn into belief
I feel right, we'll make it right now
If we trust, trust, trust in love

We all are dreamers on our way
In a world where we're not meant to stay
Together we can make it all
    The secret is love

I'm reaching out my hand to you
Soldiers let the light shine through
So we can realise the wonder of life (Trust, love, life)

So what more do we need?
So what more will it take to see life?
    Just open your eyes

(We all are dreamers on our way)
(In a world where we're not meant to stay) We're not meant to stay
Together we can make it all
    The secret is love

I'm reaching out my hand to you
Soldiers (Soldiers let the light shine through)
    Let the light shine through
So we can realise the wonder of life

    (Trust, love, life)
    (Spread your wings and fly)
    (Trust, love)

    See... the secret is love
