2009: Malena Ernman - La Voix

Malena Ernman was born Sara Magdalena Ernman on the 4th of November, 1970 in Uppsala, Sweden. She grew up in the small town of Sandviken, known as the hometown of many popular artists. She is married to actor Svante Thunberg and they have two children, Greta and Beata.

Malena is perhaps one of Sweden’s most seasoned and versatile performers, having dabbled in numerous musical genres such as cabaret, jazz and musicals as well as what she is best known for, opera. She is a member of the Royal Swedish Opera. Opera is however her principal musical style, which has given her the opportunity to work in many cities such as Berlin, Vienna, Brussels, Paris and Innsbruck.

Her career as an opera singer features a long list of merits, including tenures at the Staatsoper in Berlin, playing the role of Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, Rosina in The Barber of Seville (Finnish National Opera), the lead role in Carmen (Stockholm Royal Opera) and the role of Zerlina in Don Giovanni (Staatsoper Berlin).

Besides being a much sought after opera singer, Malena has also held many concerts on most continents in cities such as Tokyo, Madrid, Paris, London and Los Angeles. Another of her career highlights was when she performed at the 1999 Nobel Prize Award Ceremony. Since the beginning of her career in 1998, the silver tonsilled songbird has managed to release no fewer than 7 albums: My Love, Cabaret Songs, Songs in Season, Nachtgesänge, The High Mass, La Voix Du Nord and Santa Lucia – En Klassisk Jul
