2009: Regina - Bistra Voda

Regina were formed in Sarajevo in 1990, and are stalwarts of the Bosnian music scene. The group consists of Aleksandar Čović, Davor Ebner, Denis Čabrić and Bojan Milićević. They started out as a trio in a garage band, before Regina emerged, giving them nationwide success throughout the whole of the former Yugoslavia.

Their first album, the self titled Regina was released in 1990 and experienced success within Bosnia & Herzegovina. Their follow up album however, Ljubav Nije Za Nas (Love Is Not For Us) released in 1992 finally paved their way for pan Yugoslav success, making it big in most of the Yugoslav republics. The band soon built up a wide fan base for their own brand of melodic pop-rock. The outbreak of the war forced some members of Regina to flee to Serbia; they were replaced and Regina carried on with an altered line-up. More albums followed, namely Oteto od Zaborava (Abducted From Oblivion) in 1994, Ja Nisam Kao Drugi (I’m Like No Other) in 1997, Kad Zatvorim Oči (When I Close My Eyes) in 1999 and finally Devedesete (Nineties) in 2000.

The group split in 2000, with main vocalist Aleksandar embarking on a solo career. The attraction of former success proved however too powerful for band members to resist, with them reforming in 2006 after a chance meeting in Belgrade in 2004. The band now consisted once more of the original line up and to celebrate their reforming, they released the album Sve Mogu Ja (All I can Do). Following their participation for Bosnia & Herzegovina at the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest, they released their latest album Vrijeme Je (It’s Time), further cementing their superstar status in the Balkan region.
