Friðrik Ómar has previously participated both as a backing singer and as a featured artist for Iceland in several Eurovision Song Contests, making him a well known face and extremely popular with many fans. Not one to rest on his laurels, he has numerous projects currently in the pipeline.

At the tender age of seventeen, Safura impressed the majority of viewers with her stunning voice and spectacular, goose bump-inducing performance at the final of this year's Eurovision Song Contest. Azerbaijan had clearly gained an appetite for success following last year's triumphant 3rd place.

A German victory in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010, and a seemingly likely Austrian entry to the 2011 contest could well have been the final two catalysts that gave Liechtenstein broadcaster 1FLTV the final push needed to submit their application for EBU membership this week.

In conjunction with the launch of her album, My Cassette Player, German winner Lena gave a candid interview to Norwegian tabloid Dagbladet. The young pop comet also commented on speculation in the European press, which at times, can best be described as wild and surprisingly creative.

Who can forget Tom Dice as he stood up there on the stage and sang his heart out for Belgium in this year's Eurovision Song Contest? His entry Me And My Guitar won the heart of many Europeans and this album from him might just do the same.

The excitement was no doubt huge for many when an invitation for an upcoming Eurovision concert was sent to their mailbox from the Norwegian Eurovision Fan Club, OGAE Norway. Excitement quickly turned to disappointment however, when it was announced on Friday that the event organiser had no choice but to pull the plug on the imminent concert.

Marcel Bezençon, who was the director of the European Broadcasting Union, had the idea of the Eurovision Song Contest, which is based on Italian famous San Remo festival, in 1955. After his death in 1981, it was decided to give awards based on his name.
