National selection

There are twenty songs but only eight of them will make it to the super final scheduled for the 11th of February. The national selection procedure called 'A Dal', which means ‘The Song’ will have two semi-finals which will take place on the 28th of January and February 4th.

Will Romania take part at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012? The answer will be revealed tonight, when during the board meeting of Romanian broadcaster SRTv, Romania's fate at the upcoming contest in may will be decided according to the Romanian newspaper Adevărul. Romania may not take part due to financial problems.

Eirodziesma 2012 continues with its second heat on Saturday. Another group of ten participants will fight for the battle of making it to the final. One of the qualifiers from first semi-final, Samantha Tina, will participate once again, but this time she will be alone on stage.

Today SVT announced the full details about the rules of Melodifestivalen 2012. One of the news this year is that SVT will go back to a previously used system which means that there won't be a song that goes straight to the final after the first round of voting anymore and when a semi final is over the winner of it won't be revealed.

After a second investigation Danish broadcaster, DR, has decided to disqualify the song Nowhere due to breaking the rules about when it was allowed to be published. 

On February 4th the first Swedish semi final kicks off with debutant Sean Banan. The honour of closing the fourth semi final is veteran Danny Saucedo. This year, 14 of the 32 songs have Swedish lyrics which is an unusually high number.

On Saturday Iceland will kick of its national selection. 5 songs will compete for two spots in the big final that will be held on February the 11th. This morning the broadcaster put the first five songs online in order for them to get some popularity before the show. 

Today, the last show in the host country's national final named Milli Seçim Turu was held via its official broadcaster İçtimai TV. A group of eight participants tried to get semifinal ticket but only Adil Bakışlı who participated in the selections in previous years, won the battle of for the semifinal!

Ivi Adamou will represent Cyprus at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012. A national final will be organized on the 25th of January by CyBC, the Cypriot broadcaster, with a total of 3 songs which were revealed today on the CyBC official website. 

The national selection in Latvia, named Eirodziesma, will kick off in a bit over 24 hours. Ten acts will participate in the first semi-final - and only half will make it to the final. Andris Ābelīte, member of Bonaparti.lv, who represented the Baltic country in 2007, return as a solo singer this time. 

Today Dutch broadcaster, TROS, announced the 6 participants that will be competing for the honour of representing the Netherlands at the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest. 

At a press conference today Danish broadcaster, DR, presented the 10 acts that will be fighting to win the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix and later represent Denmark at the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest. The list of participants reveal a mix between well known songwriters and a few singers heard of before - a new format has been presented as well.

Latvian broadcaster LTV is now set for the its national selections named Eirodziesma. The first five acts in the final of Eirodziesma will be known after the first semi-final, which will be held on Saturday evening, January 7th. Member of Bonaparti.lv Andris Ābelīte who represented Latvia in 2007, makes a return as a solo performer this time.

The last heat of the year was held tonight in host country's national final, Milli Seçim Turu 2012. As usual, nine participants fought for the fifth ticket to the semi-finals where Elton İbrahimov joined the previous winners, Orhan Kerimli, Meryem Kerimova, Hayyam Mustafazadeh and Feqan Seferov.

The first semi final of the 2012 Albanian national selection, Festivali i Këngës, took place yesterday in Tirana.  14 songs competed and 10 qualified for the final on 29 December.  The festival this year has reached a significant milestone of 50 years.  There will be a special show celebrating this event on 28 December.

There are only a few days to kick off the first semifinal in Albanian national selection Festival i Këngës. The complete line ups of both semifinals, also jury names and guest acts were revealed by the broadcaster RTSH. For the 50th anniversary edition, there will also be special show dedicated to the history of this contest.

The stage design for the upcoming Danish final, the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, has been revealed. The set designer, Claus Zier, explains it to be one gigantic waterfall and a stage that requires a lot from the artist. 

It has just been announced by Danish broadcaster, DR, that the participants for the national final, the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, will be presented on a press conference on the 5th of January. Ten teams will be fighting to represent Denmark at the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest in Baku in May.

A few days before Chrismas Belarus will pick five songs to go through to their national final. The songs will be selected from a semi-final with a line-up of 15 acts, one of them being Anastasiya Vinnikova, who represented her country in this year's Eurovision Song Contest with the song I Love Belarus.

Today in Azerbaijan's national final, it was time for Milli Seçim Turu's final show in the first heat. The nine competitors had their last chance in "to be or not to be" battle which was won by the current leader Orhan Kerimli.
