Take Me Away to Belgrade via Bulgaria

Deep Zone and Balthazar will become the fourth Bulgarian representatives at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song ‘Take Me Away’.

In a closely fought contest decided by a public phone vote, they beat Georgi Hristov and Gianni Fiorellino by a whisker, 0.10%.

It’s taken a long time to reach this point. The process started in October last year and featured thirteen preliminary heats and a semi final before tonight’s final. Only time will tell if it has been worth the wait but with many ballads entered so far, this song provides an alternative. It’s a sometimes fast, sometimes slow techno/dance track with a hint of reggae.

The results were as follows;

1. Deep Zone & Balthazar – DJ, Take Me Away – 15,37%
2. Georgi Hristov & Gianni Fiorellino – Sogno – 15,27%
3. Nikolai Manolov – Po-dobre – 12,98%
4. Dani Milev – Svetlinata i Mraka – 11,54%
5. Vlado & Svetlio – Tired Soul – 11,26%
6. Nevena – Ne Izchezvai – 9,63%
7. Dessy Dobreva – StronG – 9,60%
8. Ivailo Kolev – Should’ve Been The One – 3,76%
9. Generation – Running Scared – 3,14%
10. Ivan & Stani – You Are Magic – 3,06%
11. Simona Sivanio – Obeshtai Mi – 2,33%
12. Te & Preslava Peicheva – Tazi Vecher – 2,06%

Bulgaria will compete in the second semi-final on Thursday 22nd May.

In my view

To date, Bulgaria have always given us something different. Only last year did it bring them any degree of success.. I think this might be a return to previous form.
