Russia send Ekaterina Ryabova to Armenia for Junior Eurovision

Russia were the first country to select their song for the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest in Yerevan, Armenia.  They have decided on Ekaterina Ryabova with the song Kak Romeo i Julietta.  Ekaterina also represented Russia at the 2009 contest with Malenkiy prints.

20 acts performed in the national final which was broadcast on RTR Planeta on 29 May.  The show was broadcast live to all parts of Russia.  This is unusual due to the many different time zones within the Russian Federation.

Televoting decided that Ekaterina would return to represent Russia at the Junior Eurovision.  In 2009 she finished in 2nd place with Malenkiy prints.  Ekaterina has also participated in several popular festivals including the Slavonskiy Bazaar in Belarus and the New Wave festival in Latvia.

The runner up in the national selection Sabina Gizzatulina with Klyaksa vaksa and in 3rd place was Anastasyia Gned with Solntse na resnitsah.

Ekaterina has a very good song and you can see the video performance below.  I also liked the song and performance of Vladlena Bogdanova with the song Solnechniy luch.

The 2011 Junior Eurovision Song Contest will take place on 3 December.
