FYR Macedonia confirmed their participation – representative chosen on November 13th

FYR Macedonia confirmed their participation at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Austria. After failing to qualify for the final in Copenhagen a poll was started where people could vote whether they wanted the country to stay in or leave the contest. Now the result is known: FYR Macedonia will try again.

Two important decisions were made in FYR Macedonia: 1. The country will participate at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Austria. 2. The representative will be chosen at the popular Skopje Fest which will be held on November 13th.

The Balkan country has not scored good results at the previous Eurovision Song Contests. After qualifying for the final regularly between 2004 and 2007 it was only Kaliopi who reached the final at the 2012 edition in Baku with Crno e belo. After failing this year again with the popular  singer Tijana Dapčević a poll was started where the public could vote whether they wanted FYR Macedonia to continue to participate or not. They could also vote about the way to choose a representative – internal or through the Skopje Fest which is the oldest and most respected festival in FYR Macedonia.

At the end there was a majority who voted in favour of a participation of FYR Macedonia in Austria and an artist who will be chosen at the Skopje Fest. The festival will consist of twenty competing songs. The FYR Macedonian representative will be determined by a 50:50 mixture of  an international jury and televoting. According to Mary Popova, head of delegation, the deadline to submit a song was extended until July 31st.
