Former Turkish representatives appear as jury members in Star Akademi

The former representative names form Turkey at the Eurovision Song Contest such as Sertab Erener and Ajda Pekkan came together in a long term music contest Star Akademi’s second edition.

Star Akademi is a long term music contest which has been broadcast in several countries around Europe to bring new stars to the music arena. One of the examples was seen at the Eurovision Song Contest, Ramón del Castillo Palo, who represented Spain at the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest in İstanbul, brought the last top ten placing for his country after he had qualified from Academia Spain.

The first edition of Star Akademi Turkey was held in 2004 and ended with Barış Akarsu winning the show. The singer sadly passed away in 2008 .The 1st edition of the contest also broadcasted Ramón‘s performance live during the Eurovision Song Contest. Ramón ended the contest in 10th position receiving 87 points with his song Para Llenarme De Ti.

Yesterday night, the second edition of Star Akademi Turkey got underway, with the objective to seek out new talents for the music arena. A great surprise for viewers of the second edition is to see the names of former representatives together: Ajda Pekkan and Sertab Erener.

Ajda Pekkan took part in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1980 with her song Petr’oil and acheived 15th place with 23 points. In 2003, Sertab Erener brought the first and the only victory for Turkey with her song Everyway That I Can.
