Switzerland has held its national final, and after a public vote Heilsarmee has been given the ticket to represent their country at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö.

Melodifestivaklubben OGAE Sweden held its annual convention outside the town of Eskilstuna on Saturday the 13th of October. The 120+ crowd got a chance to see and meet up with the first Eurovision winner Lys Assia and the former ESC entrants Sinpus, Joan Franka, Birgitta Haukdal, Esther Hart and also a handful of former participants from Melodifestivalen.

You've got to admire her chutzpah, Eurovision's first lady Lys Assia doesn't take defeat lying down. Not content with an eight place in the Swiss national final last year, the Grand Dame is apparently planning a return to the Eurovision stage for 2013.

Swiss broadcaster SF was one of the first off the mark in confirming the date for their national final, set for the 15th of December. Further details surrounding their selection process was announced on the SF website today.

In accordance with tradition, OGAE Portugal usually think big when attracting stars to their annual concert in Setúbal, just outside of Lisbon. This year is no exception either with quite a few fan favourites taking to the stage at the open air José Aflonso Auditorium.

The Sinplus brothers tried their best with their rock anthem Unbreakable, but still did not manage to bring Switzerland out of their respective semi in Baku this year. Broadcaster Schweizer Fernsehen are first to confirm the date of their national final.
