Following the changes made by RÚV to the Söngvakeppnin format, tonight saw the second heat of the national selection take place. Last night's preliminary heats saw some major upsets, with both Magni and Jóhanna failing to bag one of the three spots in the final.
Icelandic broadcaster RÚV has now revealed all participants competing in this Saturday's second heat of Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins. With both firm favourites and relative newcomers to the scene featured in the line up, Eurovisionary invites you to take a closer look and to get to know those taking part a little better.
As reported last week, all participants in this year's edition of the Icelandic selection, Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins are now confirmed and with a mere twelve days to go, the week began with a preview of this year's entries on the Rás 2 channel.
Icelandic broadcaster RÚV put an end to speculation yesterday by releasing the full details of all writers, composers and most importantly all artists that will make up the twelve competing entries in this year's Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins.
During three preliminary heats a total of 7 acts had qualified for the Icelandic final held this evening. Minutes ago it was decided that it will be up to Sigurjón's Friends to bring the Nordic Island into the final of the Eurovision Song Contest for the fourth year in a row.
With the first heat of Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins 2011 kicking off tomorrow all five participants are now known and their entries have been made available online. The first five artists are unknown to many, so perhaps it's time to take a closer look at who they are and what they'll be performing.
Little information has previously been available regarding the first 5 challengers for the task of representing Iceland at this year's Eurovision Song Contest. Broadcaster RÚV have now however prior to the first heat of Söngvakeppnin Sjónvarpsins this coming Saturday released full versions of the first 5 entries.
The suspense has been mounting in the run up to the start of the Icelandic selection, Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins 2011. State broadcaster RÚV has kept details surrounding the participants strictly under wraps, but the wait is finally over, as now over half of the names are confirmed.
